KRISTEN BARRETT

Kristen Barrett is a stage director, assistant director, and stage manager whose experience, insight, and familiarity with the operatic repertoire has placed her in demand at opera companies around the nation. As a stage director she has mounted new productions with the Chicago Folks Operetta (Ball at the Savoy), Opera Southwest (Le Comte Ory, Suor Angelica), and Opera Coeur d’Alene (Tosca).

She has worked extensively as an assistant director, helping mount new productions, including several world premieres, at companies like The Dallas Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Calgary Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Chicago Opera Theater, Opera Omaha, Opera Southwest, Indiana University Opera Theater, and The Castleton Festival.
As a stage manager, Ms. Barrett has been part of the team on shows at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theater, Opera Saratoga, Glimmerglass, Utah Opera, Tulsa Opera, Opera Sarasota, Indiana University Opera Theater, and the Spoleto Festival USA.

Kristen began her career as a performer after graduating from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, having performed with The San Francsico Opera, Seattle Opera, Pocket Opera, and Opera Sarasota before transitioning into production. She hails from Venice, California, and is a long time resident of Chicago.
